If bugs and issues are preventing you from working on your Excel spreadsheets and Word documents, you may want to try Safe Mode.

If the problem does not occur in the Safe Mode, go through the following steps to find the problematic Add-in. Exit Excel in Safe Mode and start it again in normal mode.
