Dollar Tree is set to shutter over 370 stores across the nation, sparking concern among communities and shopping centers.

The national retailer Dollar Tree on Wednesday announced it took on 170 locations in four states that recently were owned by the 99 Cents Only store chain.

Its same-store net sales at Family Dollar were down 1.2% compared to the same quarter in 2022. Meanwhile, same-store net sales at Dollar Tree locations increased 6.3%.

Dollar Tree announced that it will close nearly 1,000 of its Family Dollar stores after the stores experienced a significant underperformance in 2023.

Dollar Tree will open 600 new stores this year, continuing dollar store chains' torrid growth across the United States.
