The receiver position remains uncertain in the case of the San Francisco 49ers with Week 1 drawing closer. Both star wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings are sidelined through injury, and in each case,

The San Francisco 49ers do not expect to have receiver Brandon Aiyuk on the field for the season-opening game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 7.

As for Aiyuk, Week 1 was always a long shot. It’ll be interesting to see if the 49ers keep a roster spot open and leave the door cracked for Aiyuk to return within the first four weeks. The other option would be to think big picture and place Aiyuk on the PUP list, where he’d return no sooner than Week 5.
