The National Hurricane Center says a hurricane warning has been issued for a portion of coastal Mexico due to Tropical Storm Erick

Mexico is bracing for a hurricane from the Eastern Pacific's fifth named storm, Erick, which is likely to undergo rapid intensification ahead of landfall.While the Atlantic has been calm, the Eastern Pacific is off to a fast start.

MIAMI — Tropical Storm Erick formed early Tuesday near southern Mexico and is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said. The storm was about 450 miles southeast of Punta Maldonado, Mexico, with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour, the center said.
