Two top Jewish Democrats, Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and former Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, criticized Mr. Mamdani for not condemning those who use the slogan “globalize the intifada.”

Gov. Josh Shapiro, one of the most prominent Jewish politicians in the country, criticized New York Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani for not doing more to combat antisemitism on the campaign trail — contributing to an attack line against the progressive candidate.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has joined fellow Democrats in criticizing Zohran Mamdani, the progressive candidate for mayor of New York whose past comments on Israel have cost him support from within the party. Mamdani has failed to condemn “blatantly antisemitic” rhetoric, Shapiro said in an interview with Jewish Insider published Wednesday.
