Kate Middleton bonded with a group of young children for a fun art project at the National Portrait Gallery in London on Tuesday, Feb. 4

The Princess of Wales was reportedly “animated” and “nurturing” with the little ones during Tuesday’s National Portrait Gallery outing.

Upstairs in the Ondaatje Wing, the Princess walked past portraits of Winston Churchill and a young King George VI to the first stop on the trail, a Mood Magnifying Mirror Box, with a two-way mirror for children to look into one side and identify their friends’ facial expressions from the other.

The head teacher said the royal helper had been "really chatty" with the children on the bus, playing I-spy with them and helping with their jumpers. The children were visiting a trail around the gallery encouraging them to think about their emotions, linked to Catherine's early years education project, Shaping Us.

Kate Middleton made an official visit to the National Portrait Gallery today and arrived in a different kind of style. Instead of the usual convoy of royal vehicles, the Princess instead emerged from a bus alongside school children as they excitedly made their way to view a new project in the gallery.
