Ladd McConkey and the Los Angeles Chargers battled C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans on Saturday night for a spot in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.

Former Georgia Bulldog and current Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey just etched his name in the history books.

The Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver made NFL history with a jaw-dropping performance against the Houston Texans, solidifying his place among the league’s brightest stars.

LA selected McConkey with the 34th overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft. The rookie receiver spent three years playing for the Georgia Bulldogs serving as the No. 2 pass option behind tight end Brock Bowers. Many believed McConkey would be more of a strong slot receiver in the NFL but he proved to be incredibly reliable for Herbert.

Houston’s D’Angelo Ross returned a blocked extra point for two points in the fourth quarter of the Texans wild-card playoff game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

McConkey caught nine passes for 197 yards in the game, breaking the record for most receiving yards by a rookie in a playoff game. The record was held by Puka Nacua, who just set it last year when he had 181 yards receiving against the Detroit Lions.

In the Chargers 32-12 wild card loss to the Texans, rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey set a bit of league history for himself although it may not go a long way in making him feel better about the outcome.
