The Indiana Fever have widely been regarded as the most popular team in the WNBA over the past two seasons. Clark has helped Indiana emerge onto the scene, bringing her stardom from the collegiate level, where she played with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Clark did not travel with the Fever for the matchup against the Sun.
Both teams trade buckets at the end of shot clock. Makayla Timpson seemingly beat the buzzer for Indiana and then Sonia Citron hit a shot fading away with Lexie Hull right in her face as the shot clock expires. Mystics were up 71-68.
The Washington Mystics (14-18) battle for the final WNBA playoff spot, while the Indiana Fever (18-15) aim to lock in first-round home-court advantage.
The second half told a different story for the Fever. They outscored the Sun 23-15 in the third quarter and 32-21 in the fourth to erase a 21-point deficit and force overtime. Indiana went on to win 99-93, powered by Kelsey Mitchell’s league- and season-high 38 points. She also scored 10 of the team’s 15 points in the overtime period.

Sonia Citron scored 21 points, Kiki Iriafen had 18 points and 12 rebounds, and the Washington Mystics beat the Indiana Fever 88-84.
The Fever are 2-1 vs. the Sun in 2025. Indiana beat Connecticut 88-71 on June 17 in a game that featured altercations involving Indiana's Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, and Connecticut's Jacy Sheldon (since traded), Marina Mabrey, Tina Charles and Lindsay Allen.
Cameron Brink was held scoreless as the Los Angeles Sparks fell 95–86 to the Washington Mystics on the road Sunday, despite a standout performance from Kelsey Plum.
The injury-depleted Fever look to bounce back from a one-point loss to Dallas as they face the Mystics tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET.
After a five-game win streak had the Fever ascending the WNBA standings, they've now lost four of five and are looking over their shoulder.
