Many people may be planning to stay inside this weekend due to brutally cold temperatures, but there are plenty of fun indoor events happening this weekend in Denver.

Whether it be out on the town or hibernating in the comfort of your home, there are plenty of things to do while staying warm this weekend.

Skies stay clear Tuesday night with light winds. Overnight lows will be close to seasonal averages, dipping into the upper teens. FOX31 Pinpoint Weather Chief Meteorologist Dave Fraser is tracking extreme cold across the area this weekend.

The City of Denver is extending its severe weather shelter activation into next week. Denver's Department of Housing Stability activated its Cold Weather Shelter plan on Dec. 30 and has extended it until at least 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Denver’s cold weather shelters will be open for another week as frigid weather makes its way across the state.

Those in the Denver area should enjoy the mild weather to end the work week. Temperatures will plummet below freezing this weekend and remain there for about three days straight as an artic blast of cold air brings snow and subzero weather.
