Paulsen told fellow host Craig Hoffman of the "Take Command" podcast that it may be his own bias, but Paulsen spoke very favorably of Medrano as an aggressive athlete who could be a player who might develop in the NFL and was worth being drafted. Paulsen is also a former UCLA Bruin.

With the No. 205 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the Washington Commanders selected UCLA linebacker Kain Medrano. Medrano is a 6-foot-3, 222-pound prospect who appeared in 50 games for the Bruins over his college career. He started the past two seasons, earning Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 honors in 2023 and Third-team All-Big Ten in 2024.
