A Temple University student has been charged with impersonating police and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement personnel over the weekend in Philadelphia.

Aidan Steigelmann, 22, was detained and charged with impersonating an immigration officer on the school’s Philadelphia campus.

Two wore shirts with “ICE” and “Police” in white lettering. Aidan Steigelmann, 22, a Temple student, is on interim suspension and charged with an impersonation offense by Philadelphia police.

As tensions continue to grow over recent ICE raids across the country, police at Temple University are investigating a “disappointing" disruption on campus this weekend.

Authorities in three states have made arrests in connection with individuals impersonating Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, as tensions rise amid a nationwide immigration crackdown.

Temple University student Aidan Steigelmann, 22, and two other unidentified suspects were allegedly imitating ICE agents on the Temple University campus on Saturday, Feb. 1.

The Philadelphia Police Department said officers responded to a campus residence hall over the weekend after receiving reports of “suspicious males identifying themselves as Police/ICE agents.”
